Chasing your dreams after turning 40 can be life changing. If you decide to go for it, it’s important to be realistic about your expectations and to have a plan in place.
At the age of 41, my only dreams was to lose weight, get out of debt and stop feeling miserable. Six years on, 170 blog posts later, 50 YouTube uploaded and now fully self employed, – my journey has shown me it’s never too late have new goals and go after what you want.
So how did I end up here? Was I right to chase my goals knowing how hard it’s been to get to this point, sustain everything and keep pushing forward?

CHASE YOUR DREAMS: PROS

It gives you a sense of accomplishment: As you make progress towards your dreams, you start to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. This can boost your self-confidence and self-esteem for all areas of your life.
It cultivates personal growth: Chasing your dreams can help you to grow as a person. As you learn new skills and overcome challenges, you become more resilient and open to even more opportunities.
It creates a happier and more fulfilled life: Studies have shown that people who have goals are happier and more fulfilled in life. This is because having goals gives them a sense of purpose and direction.
CHASE YOUR DREAMS: CONS
It increases stress and anxiety: Chasing your dreams can be stressful and anxiety-inducing. This is especially true if you have high expectations for yourself or if you’re facing a lot of obstacles.
You will experience disappointment: There’s no guarantee that you’ll achieve all of your dreams. This can be disappointing, especially if you’ve put a lot of time and effort into them.
It will effect your work-life balance: Chasing your dreams can be time-consuming and demanding. This can make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
You may start neglecting other important areas of your life: It’s important to make sure that you’re not neglecting other important areas of your life, such as your relationships, health, and well-being, in the pursuit of your dreams.
So, should you chase your dreams after 40?
My answer would be yes!
However, if you decide to go for it, it’s important to be realistic about your expectations and to have a plan in place. It’s also important to take breaks and to seek support from others when needed.
