So before we get started, don’t forget to grab Your Best Year Ever workbook – so you can get started right now and not waste another day.
Let’s do this!
This is your first step of your 12 month transformation. It’s the fundamentals of your goal setting plan and
creates the blueprint for your journey. Think about all the different categories that make up your life. From your health and wellbeing, family and relationships, money, career, personal growth and what experiences you have – these all form your current reality. For the majority of us, there are aspects within these categories that we want to improve in some form or another.
So before you start to focus on one specific thing you want to achieve over the next 12 months, it’s important to get real about where you are now, where you want to go, how you will get there and most importantly – why.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Where am I now?
Where do I want to be?
How will I get there?
Why do I want it?
In order to plan your best year ever, you have to be honest about where you are in all categories of your life. Being clear on what you want and why you want it, will be your biggest motivation over the next 365 days.

Once you have crafted your journey, it’s time to get clear on your goals. From the answers you wrote for the question ‘where do I want to be?‘, think about what you want your life to look this time, next year. (Ignore any self-doubt that creeps into your mind!) Ask yourself some of the questions below and write the 10 main goals you would like to accomplish, to make the next 365 days, the best year ever.
What have I always dreamed of doing?
What new experience do I want to try?
What do I want to own?
How much money do I want to earn?
What do I want to learn?
What type of relationships do I want in my life?
How do I want to spend your time?
What physical changes to I want?
What do I have to let go of?
You now have at least 10 goals you want to accomplish over the next year. Let’s turn your goals into reality! The good news is, you only have to work one month at a time!
Review your goals and think about which 3 excite you the most. Now remember, don’t put yourself under
any pressure thinking you have to achieve all 3 goals in one month – this is a process!.
Write down the 3 goals you will be focusing on for the month.
Next, write down at least 5 macro actions you can take over the next 30 days to work towards those goals. These are the only 5 actions you have to think about for the month.
But beware, there may be obstacles you could encounter over the next few weeks, which could hinder your ability to take action. Have a think about your commitments, mindset, time restraints and any other
obstacle that could stop you from fulfilling your actions. Write them down and have a plan for how you will overcome them if they occur.
Taking the 5 macro actions you’ve written down, it’s now time to plot the micro actions for the next 30 days. These are the daily/weekly things you plan to do in order to accomplish the macro actions you planned for the month.
For example: Let say, one of your 10 goals for the year was to lose weight and your macro action for the month was to lose 4lbs. Some of your micro actions to plot over the month could be; Clear out kitchen cupboards. Create a healthy shopping list. Work out 2 times per week. Cook a homemade meal.
When plotting your actions, think about the available time you have during that day to accomplish that action.
Spread out small and larger actions across the week so you don’t get overwhelmed. It’s also a good idea to write down any notes you want to be reminded of and also create a mantra/affirmation for the month, to keep you motivated.
It’s important to keep a record of your progress and celebrate the wins (big and small), along the journey. Recording how you’re feeling and the milestones you have accomplished acts as reminder of your growth and evolution, as you move through each months goals, towards the life you truly desire and the person you want to become.
When you get through the first month following the system above and see what you’ve achieved – Don’t stop!
Keep the momentum going by repeating items 3 – 5 and in no time at all those, micro actions start to to stack up each week and compound. Over the next 12 months you will not recognised the person who took that first step today.
Give it a try and let me know how you get on – I love to hear your stories. And, don’t forget to grab your copy of the workbook to make the whole process even easier!!!
