Entering your 40s can be a daunting period in life. However, having the right tools to embrace change, can make all the difference for women over 40.
Whether you’re just about to hit this life milestone or already in the throws of your fortieth decade, the process I share below will provide all the steps you need to embrace change for years to come.
I experienced a huge struggle when I turned 40. The life I thought I would be living was far removed to my actual reality. I felt stuck, frustrated and disappointed with what my life had become. I knew everything had to change – but I was afraid of taking the steps to embrace the change that was needed.
The steps below gave me the power to embrace change and reboot my perception of what I could achieve in my 40s.
It’s time to rebalance, reflect, create awareness and begin the journey of self-discovery to make your 40s the best decade ever!
How to Embrace Change: Women Over 40
EVALUATE WHERE YOU ARE
In order to fully embrace change, you have to evaluate where you are. It may be hard to acknowledge your current situation, but once you have come to terms with your present life, feelings and experience, you can make decisions about what you want to change.
Take a good look at all aspects of your life and ask yourself what needs to improve. What needs to totally change. And, what needs to remain.
CREATE A VISION OF 'WHO' YOU WANT TO BE
Now that you know where you are, it’s time to think about ‘who’ you want to be. Being 40 or over is not too late to completely change your whole life, (I am testimony to that!). So really think about who you want to become. What do they do? How do they think? What is important to them? How do they spend their time? Who do they surround themselves with?
Create a vision of who you want to be and write it down.
CHALLENGE THE NEGATIVE BELIEFS YOU HOLD
Your 40s is the perfect decade to release any negative beliefs that were previously controlling you. Those belief’s have manifested in the life you are living today – good and bad!
Be willing to let go of disempowering thoughts about your past. It’s time to make positive emotional connections to your present and future. Doing this (and I know it’s not easy!), will develop a new belief system. This creates an empowering mindset for your future and allows you to embrace change in any form it comes.
CREATE NEW GOALS
Being 40 or over, is a great time to set a new course for your life. Imagine all the things you could do in the next 10 years that will be of benefit to you, your family or even the wider community.
New experiences expand the mind, give new perspectives and are good for your mental health. Most importantly, the person you become when working towards those goals expands your belief’s about who your are and what you are really capable of.
ALIGN YOUR HABITS WITH YOUR VISION
Your habits are the sum total of what your life is today, because we are what we repeatedly do. Being over 40 is the perfect opportunity to create new habits aligned to the new vision of who you want to become.
Taking one area of your life at a time, look at what you want to change and start creating habits that help you work towards those goals.
TAKE BACK YOUR POWER
Your life is 100% your responsibility!
Whether you want to be happy, wealthy, change your weight or feel worthy – it’s all up to you. Nobody is coming to save you! And that’s the good news! Realising the important role you play in your life will change your expectations on yourself and others.
Embrace change by taking back your power and start doing the things you know are needed to make the changes you want to see in your life.
